Dr. Gopal's expertise includes the management of diabetic retinopathy, age-related macular degeneration, macular holes, epiretinal membranes, retinal tears and detachments, dislocated intraocular lenses, retinal vascular disease, ocular trauma, ocular inflammation, and other medical and surgical conditions of the retina and vitreous.
Dr. Gopal is certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology. He is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology (AAO), the American Society of Retina Specialists (ASRS), and the Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology (ARVO).
Dr. Gopal has presented research at global and national scientific meetings and published his work in leading peer-reviewed journals including JAMA, Ophthalmology, Ophthalmology Retina, and the American Journal of Ophthalmology. He has served as attending ophthalmologist in the Wills Eye Emergency Room, one of few dedicated eye emergency centers in the country. He has played an active role in the education and training of medical students and residents at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital in Philadelphia, PA.
